A brand new opportunity for a Managing Director with our client in Preston.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a commercially driven strategist who can stabilise and transform a manufacturing-led SME. The successful candidate will improve financial performance, implement operational discipline, and build strong industry relationships while reinforcing the company’s UK manufacturing advantage.

Key Priorities

• Develop and execute a clear turnaround and growth strategy.
• Strengthen UK manufacturing operations, improving efficiency, productivity, and processes.
• Drive financial performance with strong P&L leadership, cost control, and cash flow management.
• Introduce scalable systems, operational structure, and performance accountability.
• Expand relationships within existing accounts, identify new business opportunities mainly via networking and events.

About You

• Proven senior leadership experience (MD, GM, or senior management) in manufacturing, apparel, or textiles.
• Demonstrated success leading transformation in an SME environment.
• Strong strategic capability combined with a hands-on operational approach.
• Excellent financial acumen and experience managing P&L and business performance.
• Experience improving manufacturing efficiency and implementing processes.
• Well-connected networker with strong commercial instincts.
• Credible leader able to engage teams and stakeholders during change.
• An interest in apparel, gym or sports would be highly advantageous.
• This role will require some networking events over a weekend, so we do need someone with flexibility around working days
